Resource Development - Our Fundraising Efforts

Buena Vista Auxiliary is a non-profit that depends on grants, donations, and fundraising events to fund our philanthropic programs.  Buena Vista Auxiliary's three main fundraising efforts are A Toast to Tutoring, Make Your Mark, and grants and donations from corporations, small businesses and individuals.

A Toast to Tutoring

A Toast to Tutoring is a wine tasting / auction event that has been Buena Vista Auxiliary's primary source of funds for the Buena Vista Tutorial Program. Hundreds of guests enjoy wine, delicious food and the opportunity to bid on many spectacular live and silent auction items.

Buena Vista Auxiliary hosted this year's A Toast To Tutoring 2010 at the beautiful Roundhill Country Club in Alamo on Friday, April 30, 2010.  The event featured dinner and wine tasting from wineries of Napa, Sonoma and Livermore Valleys, and the Bay Area, as well as silent and live auctions.

Buena Vista Auxiliary has received a very generous donation of $25,000 from RPM Mortgage on behalf of its employees towards the Buena Vista Tutorial Program.  The donation will primarily benefit Holbrook Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, Indian Valley Elementary and Sun Terrace Elementary schools and will also help the other seven schools in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District that participate in the program.

"There are many things and people that are valuable to all of us, but I feel certain that we would all agree that our kids rank as our most precious and important gift," said Rob Hirt, CEO of RPM Mortgage. "During this time of Thanksgiving, it is important for all of us to remember that giving back to our children and their education is the greatest gift that we can bestow on them."

RPM Mortgage's donation will provide 672 hours of tutoring to 84 children.  "I truly believe the Buena Vista Tutorial Program has made a difference for our students," said Felicia Stukey-Smith, Principal of Sun Terrace Elementary. "Working 2:1 has brought many of our students up to grade level."

Buena Vista Auxiliary is very appreciative and thankful for RPM Mortgage's donation and support of our Tutorial Program.  "This generous donation comes at a time when the schools are suffering," said Shannon Kelly, 2009-10 Buena Vista Chairman.  "RPM's gift allows us to offer more children much needed reading attention at a critical moment in their lives."

A non-event fundraiser conducted every fall, Make Your Mark invites community members, businesses, friends and family to send a donation to our projects.

Please make your tax deductible donation to Buena Vista Auxiliary.  All proceeds from this direct mailing fundraiser go towards our Tutorial Program.  With the current fiscal crisis affecting our local schools, every dollar helps!
